Red Velvet Cake Recipe: A Moist and Decadent Classic :

Ingredients (Makes 2-layer 9-inch cake):
For the Cake:

.) 2 ½ cups (310g) All-purpose flour
.) 1 ½ cups (300g) Granulated sugar
.) 1 tsp Baking soda
.) 1 tsp Salt
.) 1 tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
.) 1 ½ cups (360ml) Buttermilk (room temperature)
.) ½ cup (120ml) Vegetable oil
.) 2 large Eggs (room temperature)
.) 2 tbsp Red food coloring (gel or liquid)
.) 1 tsp Vanilla extract
.)1 tsp White vinegar

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

16 oz (450g) Cream cheese (softened)
1 cup (240g) Unsalted butter (softened)
4 cups (480g) Powdered sugar
1 tsp Vanilla extract
A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by putting grease and flour on them or using parchment paper for simple baking pan removal.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
Place all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, unsweetened cocoa powder into a bowl and sift them together. Mixing these ingredients well without lumps is the result.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients:
Blend buttermilk with vegetable oil and eggs before mixing them with extract and vanilla.

Gently stir red food coloring and white vinegar into the moist mixture until both mix smoothly. The food coloring will turn the batter into deep reddish tones during the mixing process.
  4. Mix dry baking ingredients: slowly into wet mixture until everything blends well.
Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture by small portions while mixing until the batter turns smooth. You have two choices to blend ingredients: use a hand mixer or simply mix with a whisk.
  5. Pour Batter into Cake Pans:
Spread the batter evenly between two cake pans that are ready to use.
Tapping the cake pans gently on the surface evened the mixture and reduced air pockets.
  6. Bake the Cakes: Put the baking pans into the oven to heat for 30 to 35 minutes until the toothpick test shows no wet batter remains in the center.
Take the cakes out of the oven after 30-35 minutes and wait 10 minutes in their pans before moving them to wire racks to cool down fully.
  7. Make the Cream Cheese Frosting:
Put cream cheese and unsalted butter in a large bowl to mix until both ingredients become smooth and creamy.
Mix powdered sugar and vanilla extract gradually with salt. Blend the frosting mixture for 3 to 4 minutes until it turns soft and airy.
  8. Assemble the Cake:
When the cakes have cooled down put the bottom layer on a serving plate. Apply thick cream cheese frosting over the top.
Cover the top cake layer with the leftover frosting and assemble the final product in the dish.
  9. Decorate (Optional):
To complete the design top off the cake with a layer of more red velvet cake crumbs along with berries or flowers for visual appeal.
    Preparation Time:
The cake batter prep takes 20 minutes.
    Baking Time:
    30-35 minutes (baking the cakes)
    Cooling Time:

The cakes need 30 to 60 minutes for cooling before you can put on the frosting.
